The first person Eddie meets in heaven is the "Blue Man." Eddie plays a big role in his life because he is the one who ended it. In heaven, the Blue Man teaches Eddie that his life was not worthless at all, and that he had to die so Eddie could live. Eddie shouldn't feel guilty that he was throwing a ball because everything happens for a reason, and there was no way he could have known. Each person's life ends so another's can begin, and according to him, no fairness is not involved at all. If that was true, no good person would die young. the Blue Man tells Eddie that although they did not know each other, their lives were connected, and that strangers are just family you have yet to meet.
